La Paz

La paz beachWelcome to La Paz, one of Baja Mexico’s premier destinations, possessing boundless natural resources and endless activities. The Capital of Baja California Sur with over 200,000 people, La Paz retains an authentic, small town ambiance. La Paz is unspoiled, safe and inviting, providing relaxing strolls along its seaside waterfront amidst fiery sunsets. You can indulge in delicious local cuisine or shop for authentic Mexican arts and crafts. Or just relax and do nothing at all on an endless white sand beach and get reacquainted with your inner self.

La Paz was founded by the spanish conquistador Hernan Cortez in 1535. It was not until 1720, due to fierce native resistance, that Jesuit missionaries colonized the present day capital of Baja California Sur. La Paz’s, meaning “peace”, was started when the Jesuit’s built the Nuestra Senora del Pilar de La Paz mission.
Visiting La Paz today gives one the impression it is a location of contrasts; exotic and overwhelming while at the same time calm and relaxing. La Paz, the capital of Baja California Sur, located north of the Tropic of cancer offers many different access options by air, land and sea travel. For international visitors Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines and since the closure of the local Aero California airlines the Volaris Airline are servicing La Paz, offering daily arrivals at the La Paz Intl. Gen. Manuel de Leon Airport from several major cities in the paz area

The mixture of traditional Mexican hospitality and being a destination rich in natural gifts makes La Paz, which has hosted international visitors for almost a century, a very desired location for visitors.  La Paz, a tropical getaway has excellent food, lush beaches, extensive shopping, superb water sports and sportfishing — it doesn’t have the negative resort town feel like Cabo San Lucas. It remains an almost perfect mix of Old World Mexico and New World amenities. La Paz is a perfect place to take your kids and therefore excellent for family vacations. The beaches are beautiful, the water is calm and shallow, and just sightseeing along the Malecon is interesting for all ages. Almost everything in the area — from fishing to food — is affordable for families. In La Paz, hospitality is not just an industry – it’s a way of life!
